TAILORED LEARNING

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

blog 41Today the students in grades 2-4 recited famous quotes from Marin Luther King Jr. The students in grades 7-8 were the audience members. Elementary students were asked to recite the quotes and explain what it meant to them. The older students then asked questions such as, “Why did you choose this quote?” “How did this inspire you?” “How do you demonstrate this in your own life?” The middle schoolers were a great audience and encouraged higher level thinking from the elementary students. Despite being nervous the elementary kids did incredibly well and developed more meaning for all of the quotes. Students discussed how they can show love to everyone at our school which represents many different cultures and how showing peace at home can improve the quality of their family life.
